The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park (FoTHCP) is an award-winning local charity founded in 1990. We are the custodians of one of London’s historic ‘Magnificent Seven’ Victorian-era cemeteries and the adjoining green spaces of Scrapyard Meadow and Ackroyd Drive Greenlink.

At the heart of our work is the 31-acre site (now London’s most central urban woodland) which has been designated a Local Nature Reserve and a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. Since 2001, we have championed its care as Tower Hamlets’ first nature reserve, balancing rich biodiversity, deep heritage and active community involvement.

Our mission is to preserve, protect and promote this unique space for enjoyment, remembrance, and learning. We do this through practical conservation, heritage preservation, education and volunteering. Each year, we offer hundreds of free or low-cost activities and opportunities for people of all ages to connect with nature and each other.
