A total of 470 beetle species have been recorded at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park. This rich assemblage reflects the variety of habitats across the site — from woodland and meadow to decaying wood and wetland edges — and highlights the Park’s value as a refuge for invertebrate biodiversity in urban London.
Records have been compiled by Edward Milner, Norman Heal, and Dan Hall, and submitted to national recording schemes and conservation organisations.
The list below is arranged by beetle family and includes each species’ scientific name, common name (where known), and national conservation status.
Notable records include the Lesser Stag Beetle (Dorcus parallelipipedus), the Swollen-thighed Beetle (Oedemera nobilis), and several nationally scarce species such as Longitarsus ballotae and Panagaeus bipustulatus.
