You could be one of our independent volunteers who monitor our plants and animals! We’d love to run a volunteering group, but we don’t have staff capacity at the moment.

We already have people monitoring butterflies, spiders, beetles, and bees. They submit their records to recording schemes and share them with us. We’re keen to find people interested in moths (we have a moth trap), plants (including mosses and lichens), fungi, birds, mammals, and any invertebrates. You can find our species lists here.

Monitoring can be super simple, or very comprehensive! You could study the behaviour of just one species, an example being a mark-release-recapture snail study.
