Want to meet up with your colleagues, but the office isn’t an option yet? Come outdoors! We are well equipped to keep your team socially distanced and feeling safe.

Ideally situated between Canary Wharf and the City, team volunteer days with the Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park get you out of the office and into the outdoors for fun and meaningful activities that improve your team’s wellbeing. It’s a great opportunity to re-connect with old colleagues, and meet face-to-face with new ones.

We offer flexible corporate volunteering days to suit organisations of all sizes and help to deliver your corporate social responsibility (CSR) needs. We’ll work with you to develop a day that perfectly meets your team’s requirements. Because of Covid we’re flexible in our offer – we can host shorter days, give guided walks, and are happy to work with you to find something that suits your current needs. Our Covid safety policy and risk assessment is here.

A festive outdoors!

If you’d like to do a Christmas, Hallowe’en, solstice or other seasonal thing, we have a few options, including guided walks and craft activities like wreathmaking and bird box making, with optional non-alcoholic mulled apple juice or wine.

To find out more or book, please contact Suzanna on suzanna.maas@fothcp.org or email contact@fothcp.org. Please state the size of your group (ideally minimum 6-10, maximum 100) and the date (roughly) you’d like to visit. We usually only host groups from Tuesday to Friday.

We prioritise bookings from organisations that are able to pay. We normally ask for a donation of £30 minimum per person, but we’re happy to negotiate if necessary, or discuss alternative options (e.g. fundraising, or donating an hour’s wages). As you can imagine, times have been tough regarding the charity’s income from company volunteering, and this income is vital.

We would like to thank you for the effort and time you spent into making our community day efficient and fun. I have organised a number of days, and the time we spent with you was brilliant. I loved the way you told us all about the history of the Park before we started so that we got a true feeling of how we were helping to keep the history and the future of the park alive.

What to expect

On a nature conservation volunteering day:
You’ll have a friendly member of staff with you all day. Your team will do seasonal tasks such as removing weeds, planting wildflowers and bulbs, felling and planting small trees, litter picking, and repairing paths. Physical tasks and being somewhere green boosts morale and gives a sense of achievement. As well as getting an excellent workout, corporate volunteers contribute to the important nature conservation work we do in the park which directly benefits wildlife and the local community.

On the day:
We’re happy to discuss a schedule to suit your needs. This is what most groups choose:

  • 10:45 – Arrive
  • 11:00 – Introduction to the Cemetery Park and a tool safety talk
  • 11:20 – Start task
  • 13:00 – Lunch break (30 mins)
  • 13:30 – Continue the task
  • 15:00 – Leave
