Want to meet up with your colleagues, but the office isn’t an option for everyone? Come outdoors! We are well equipped to improve your team’s wellbeing while they contribute to nature and community.
Ideally situated between Canary Wharf and the City, team volunteering at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park gets you out of the office and into the outdoors for fun and meaningful activities. It’s a great opportunity to connect with colleagues and meet face-to-face.
We offer flexible corporate volunteering days to suit organisations of all sizes and help to deliver your corporate social responsibility (CSR) needs. We’ll work with you to develop a team challenge day that perfectly meets your requirements. We’re flexible in our offer – we can host shorter days, give guided walks, offer activities, and we are happy to work with you to find something that suits your needs.
What to expect
On a nature conservation volunteering day you’ll have a friendly member of staff with you all day. Your team will do seasonal tasks such as removing weeds, planting wildflowers and bulbs, felling and planting small trees, litter picking, and repairing paths.
Physical tasks and being outdoors in nature boosts morale, improves physical and mental well-being and gives a sense of achievement. As well as getting an excellent workout, corporate volunteers contribute to the important nature conservation work we do in the park which directly benefits wildlife and the local community.
Corporate events
If you’d like to do a summer, Christmas, Hallowe’en, solstice, or other seasonal activity, we have lots of interesting options, including guided walks (foraging, nature and history) and activities that you and your colleagues can join in together (wreath making, bushcraft, and whittling). Get in touch with us at contact@fothcp.org to find out more.
Interested?
To find out more or book, please email contact@fothcp.org. Please state the size of your group (a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 100) and the date (roughly) you’d like to visit. We usually host groups from Tuesday to Friday, preferably Wednesday to Friday, any time of year.
We are happy to arrange a time to speak so that you can decide if the day suits your needs and we can also meet you at the Cemetery Park so that you can see the Park and meet our group leaders.
Our volunteer sessions are designed to be interesting and safe. Our leaders are all first aid trained, experienced in working with groups of all ages. A comprehensive tool safety talk and demonstration at the beginning of the day prepares you for your work and we have a detailed risk assessment in place to ensure that all risks are planned for. The Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park has public liability insurance for all of our activities and we can provide you with all relevant paperwork before the day.
Once we have confirmed your volunteering day, we create a registration website page for your team that provides all of the information that you need for your volunteering experience, from what clothes to wear to where and when to meet.
We prioritise bookings from organisations that can pay. Fees start at £35 per person for Nature Conservation volunteering, but we’re happy to discuss alternative options (e.g., fundraising, or donation).
During our peak volunteering season, 1st April to 30th September, we are unlikely to be able to accept groups who are unable to pay or donate for their volunteering day. However, in our quieter seasons, winter, and spring, we have plenty of interesting work that groups can carry out (tree planting, hedge planting, bulb planting, wildflower planting and path construction) that we always need groups to participate in and we are more flexible with our fee structure during these times.
We would like to thank you for the effort and time you spent into making our community day efficient and fun. I have organised a number of days, and the time we spent with you was brilliant. I loved the way you told us all about the history of the Park before we started so that we got a true feeling of how we were helping to keep the history and the future of the park alive.
