Schools can take part in a wide range of non-curricular activities at the Cemetery Park such as habitat exploration in our ponds, meadows and woodland, discovering mini-beasts and plant and animal species identification, forest school and bushcraft.
Curricular sessions can be arranged with Setpoint London East, based in the Soanes Centre within the Cemetery Park and more information is available on their website.
We welcome educational users of the Cemetery Park and we work hard to create a safe and accessible space for all age groups. We have planned walks, outdoor classroom areas, ponds with dipping platforms and space for lessons and workshops. Within the Cemetery Park we have four outdoor learning spaces and three pond-dipping platforms that can be booked by schools.
For more information about our outdoor learning spaces download this document.
All educational visits to the Cemetery Park should be booked in advance via our Booking request form.
There are fees and conditions that apply to the use of the Cemetery Park and the Cemetery Park Lodge and you must read and abide by the FoTHCP Terms and Conditions for using Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park. Self-led educational visits (schools, colleges and nurseries) cost £35 per class per visit for park access. Please note that self-led visits do not include use of toilets or storage facilities.
To ensure that the Cemetery Park is a safe space for all users we also require groups that visit the Cemetery Park to abide by the FoTHCP Park usage conditions.
Our team can also lead heritage, crafts, bushcraft and nature based sessions on request on topics from the Victorians and the Blitz to lantern making and bat walks. Sessions led by our staff are 90 minutes long, outdoors and non-curricular. These sessions cost £150 per class (maximum of 30 children) and include use of the Cemetery Park Lodge toilets and storage facilities. Get in touch to find out more about these sessions and discuss learning outcomes and costs.
Bespoke Forest School sessions for children up to 16 years are available on request. Sessions are between 2 and 3 hours long and cost £250 for a maximum of 15 students. This is also available as a holiday club for private groups.
