Cemetery Park Officer (London)

Salary: £27,544

Contract: Permanent

We’re looking for a highly motivated individual who wants to make a difference and work in our enthusiastic team. As Cemetery Park Officer, you’ll play a hugely important role in our day to day management of the site and our extensive programme of events and community activities. Your interpersonal skills and ecological knowledge will be used and developed across a varied workload, including planning and coordinating our successful and popular corporate volunteer days, educational activity sessions for school/summer school groups, walks and activity sessions for the general public (adults and children), who are often well-paying customers, as well as general park management and upkeep.

The role is varied across sites (Cemetery Park, Ackroyd Drive, Scrapyard Meadow and pocket-park sites), responsibilities and seasons. It includes delivering a wide range of green space improvement projects which are sensitive to the ecology and heritage within the site, working with volunteers and contractors, and where required dealing with administrative tasks such as grave enquiries (whilst the site is no longer an active cemetery, many of our users are keen to trace their family history).

We understand that the role of Cemetery Park Officer will be demanding and we’re looking for an individual who likes a challenge and is looking to be part of a motivated team that works closely together to fulfil the vision of the charity as well as work independently. They’ll be a conscientious individual who takes safety seriously. Our ideal candidate will be comfortable with engaging with people and have some experience of working (with tools) on conservation and heritage sites. The role also offers training and development opportunities.

This is a full time post of 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility required across evenings and weekends. There may be some opportunity for home-working, but the majority of work will require presence onsite.
